Braided Hairstyles
Braid hair is an elegant way of styling long hair. There are
different kinds of braid techniques you can use when styling your hair.
However, before you can even braid your hair into the style that you
want, you need to know the differences between each kind of braid.

Basically, the most common types of braids are the
French braid, the
English braid, the Dutch braid, Fishtail braids and under braid styles.
True, braids are often seen during weddings and other formal occasions,
but there are braids that can also be used as casual styles. One catch
with braid hairstyles is that you really need practice to perfect your
craft. But don’t worry too much about that, in time you’ll become a
braiding expert yourself.
There are certain things you need to have before you can achieve an
excellent braid hairstyle. Be sure to have these things so that it will
be easier for you to work on your braids. The things you need are a
wide-tooth comb, a rat tail comb, a ponytail holder, and of course, a
lot of patience. Also, keep a bottle of water nearby because it is
easier to braid damp hair than dry hair. Do remember though that it
takes a while for wet hair to dry once it is braided.
You should also have styling cream or gel handy especially if you
have fly-away, layered, or very fine hair. Hair spray is a must to set
your braids after you finish doing them. When braiding, have two sets of
mirrors stationed across each other. This way you will be able to see
the back without having to struggle with a mirror.
Before you begin braiding your hair, make sure that it is free from
tangles. Comb it thoroughly with the wide tooth comb and divide it into
sections you want braided and comb it again with the fine tooth comb. If
you have really long hair, comb the unbraided hair as you work with your
braids. Remove any arm and hand jewelry you might have and see to it
that your nails are filed so that you avoid even the tiniest snag or
catch which can ruin all your work.
The most basic of all braids is the English braids. You can certainly
do this on your own. Think of it as braiding three pieces of rope
together as this is the fundamental idea to accomplishing this kind of
braid. You might have a hard time transferring what you learned with
ropes to your hair, but rest assured once you get the hang of it, you’ll
become faster at braiding. If you perfect English braids, you are on the
next level to accomplishing more complicated braids.
French braids, cornrows, and Dutch braids seem complicated but it
really isn’t as complicated as you think it is. You only need to know
that these three kinds of braid bank upon each other. French and Dutch
braids look stunning for a formal look and these are great braid
hairstyles to accessorize. You can put Swarovski crystals or dried
flowers for more emphasis on your braids.
Braiding is not easy the first time, but if you know the techniques
behind creating beautiful braid hairstyles, you’ll have more confidence
to try out more challenging braiding styles.
